Flat concrete roofs expand when the sun beats down on them and shrink when they cool down at night. 03 Can a roof leak cause hidden concrete cancer?

Yes, ignoring a roof leak is highly dangerous for the whole building. When water continuously sinks into the concrete slab, it travels deep enough to reach the structural steel reinforcing bars inside. Once that internal steel rusts and expands, it will blow the concrete roof apart from the inside out.
